At Local Tales, our guides are committed to providing advice and support to make your experience safe and enjoyable, both before and during each activity. However, participants are responsible for their own safety, including when crossing streets and safeguarding personal belongings.
Each participant is responsible for selecting activities that match their personal interests and physical capabilities. Participants should inform Local Tales of any allergies, dietary restrictions, or medical conditions prior to the activity, either by completing the relevant form or via email. If a participant feels unable to safely join a particular activity, they should refrain from participating.
Participants acknowledge that activities offered by Local Tales — including walking tours and private or small group shore excursions — carry inherent risks. These risks may include, but are not limited to, injury, illness, loss or damage to personal property, discomfort, or inconvenience.
The enjoyment of our tours often comes from engaging in activities beyond everyday life, which involves a degree of personal risk. Participants accept that these inherent risks are part of the experience and contribute to the excitement of travel and adventure.
All participants agree to follow any instructions provided by guides or leaders throughout the activity. Failure to comply with safety instructions may result in injury, serious harm, or permanent disability. Participants must also respect local laws, customs, and regulations, including those related to currency exchange and controlled substances. Failure to do so, or behavior that endangers oneself or others, may result in the participant being removed from the activity without entitlement to a refund.
Local Tales reserves the right to refuse participation to any individual whose behavior or abilities compromise the safety or well-being of themselves or others. This policy applies to all activities and is not grounds for refund.
Participants understand that some activities may involve alcohol consumption and accept full responsibility for their behavior, health, and safety throughout the tour. Activities may include walking on busy streets, uneven or cobblestone surfaces, public transport, stairways, narrow passages, or other environments unfamiliar to the participant.
Local Tales does not provide travel insurance as part of our services. We strongly recommend that all customers obtain comprehensive travel insurance to protect against unforeseen circumstances such as trip cancellations, medical emergencies, lost luggage, or travel delays.
It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure they have the appropriate coverage for their specific needs. Travel insurance should be arranged independently and should cover the entire duration of the trip. We advise reviewing your insurance policy carefully to ensure it provides adequate protection for your travel arrangements.
Our tourist guides are all professionals officially licensed by the Greek Ministry of Tourism.
Licensed, professional tourist guides in Greece are required to carry and display an official, government-issued photo ID card or badge, issued by the Ministry of Tourism. This is a light blue, official ID badge displaying the guide’s photo, name, registration number, and permitted languages. This card signifies they have passed rigorous training and are authorized by law (under Law 710/77 in Greece) to guide in archaeological, historical, and cultural sites, monuments and museums.
Verification: Visitors have the right to ask for this ID to confirm the guide’s legitimacy and to avoid illegal, uncertified guiding.
The standard language for all private guided tours is English. All other languages are provided only on request basis. Additional languages that we offer: French, Italian, Spanish, Polish, German, Dutch, Ukrainian, Russian, Turkish (always subjected to availability).
